Austin Tree Experts is a Central Texas tree company, founded in 2003 and still run by the person who founded it. We are a small company: a credentialed member of staff looks at your trees and writes the assessment, and our own crews do the work.
Most of our work is residential. We also work for municipalities, apartment and commercial properties, and for developers, engineers, architects and contractors.
How It Started
Keith Brown founded the company in 2003. He had been in the trade since 1993, when he took his first job on a tree crew, and had held certification from the International Society of Arboriculture since 1997.
Think of us as a boutique tree service: you will not get a one-size-fits-all pitch, you will get someone who knows the difference between a heritage live oak in Tarrytown and a cedar elm in Pflugerville, and who will tell you what your trees actually need, including when that is nothing.
Keith was appointed to the City of Austin’s Urban Forestry Board in 2013.
The Team
The work is managed by credentialed staff who oversee it end to end, from the first assessment to the final cleanup.

We invest heavily in the people. The company pays the certification costs for anyone who pursues one, senior staff lead in-house training every week, and our arborists attend the Texas ISA chapter’s conferences. More on how that works.
How We Work
-
Assessment. A credentialed member of staff comes out and looks at the trees. We find out what you need, assess what condition the trees are actually in, and prepare a written inspection and work plan with photographs, followed by a formal proposal. Two documents, not one: the inspection is where the crew size, the hours, the equipment and the site protection get written down.
-
The plan. We coordinate the project around your schedule, file any permit applications the work requires on your behalf, and order any nursery stock or materials.
-
Execution. Our crews work to ISA best management practice and to the ANSI A300 tree care and Z133 safety standards.
-
Finishing up. We follow up to check the work is right. An invoice arrives by email and can be paid online or the old-fashioned way. We keep thorough records, so past work on your property can always be looked up, including by you, in the client portal.
